Title: The Health of Healthcare Providers: From Suicide, Substance Abuse and Burnout to Resiliency and Prevention
Description
Despite being at the core of the healthcare system, physicians (and other healthcare professionals) tend to neglect their own health and rely on self-management when they have health problems. This tendency towards self-treatment and the increasing demands of the environment in which they practice, leads healthcare providers to have increasing rates of adverse outcomes such as suicide and burnout. However, there is hope and evidence-based interventions to improve resiliency and the physical and mental health of our healthcare workforce.
